SEA BASE STAFF
JOIN US FOR A SBAFA REUNION
Let’s Set the “Story” Straight —
Your Memories. Our History.
The Sea Base Story.
☠ OCTOBER 9-12, 2026 ☠
This reunion is about more than reconnecting—it’s an opportunity to help tell the story of Sea Base.
We’ll be joined by Dave Kenney, the author selected to write the history of Sea Base, and we want voices from across the generations to be part of it.
Dave is the author of more than two dozen works of historical nonfiction. His career has also included work as a local television reporter and writer with CNN. Scouting alumni may know him as the author of The Far Northland: A Century of Wilderness High Adventure at Northern Tier, which chronicles the history and impact of Scouting America’s Northern Tier High Adventure Base.
Now he’s turning his attention to Sea Base—and that means your stories matter.
From the early days to today, the people, places, programs, traditions, challenges, adventures, and unforgettable moments have made Sea Base what it is. Your memories and experiences can help preserve that history and ensure it is told by the people who lived it.
Reunion Highlights:
Meetings and conversations with Dave focused on different eras of Sea Base history
Opportunities for individual and group interviews, storytelling, and sharing memories
Time at both the Islamorada Sea Base and Brinton Environmental Center
A sunset cruise
An optional excursion to Key West
Conversations about Sea Base’s bright future
And LOTS of time to visit, catch up with old friends, and make new ones!
Multiple generations. Countless stories. One incredible Sea Base legacy.
Come reconnect, reminisce, laugh, share your stories, and help make sure the history of Sea Base is told by the people who lived it.

During your stay, you’ll have the opportunity to reconnect with the places, programs, and people that have made Sea Base so special—and to give something back to the place that has given so much to all of us.
Spend time exploring both the Islamorada Sea Base and Brinton Environmental Center, with opportunities to tour the facilities, see today’s programs in action, revisit familiar places, and discover how Sea Base has grown and changed through the years. Whether you served here decades ago or more recently, this is your chance to experience Sea Base from a whole new perspective.
And because this weekend is about more than remembering the past, we’ll also have opportunities to give back. Service projects are planned, giving reunion participants a chance to roll up their sleeves and leave Sea Base a little better than we found it—just as generations of staff and volunteers have done before us.
The weekend will also include an optional excursion to Key West, a sunset cruise, and plenty of time for relaxation, refreshments, storytelling, and camaraderie with old friends and new ones.
Registered guests will receive additional information before the reunion about the weekend schedule, available activities, service opportunities, and the optional Key West excursion. Some optional activities may involve an additional cost and may be subject to minimum or maximum participation, schedule changes, or weather conditions.
